20th Annual A Most Excellent Race With each step you take at A Most Excellent Race, you will help a child with disabilities by raising essential funds to support Camp Cheerful! THANK YOU! A Most Excellent Race was a great success! With the participation of over 900 people and the generous support of the community, we exceeded our goal. On behalf the the campers of the Achievement Centers for Children's Camp Cheerful - Thank you! We will continue to accepts donations and sponsor support through August 2010. We appreciate your generous support. Since its inception in 1990, over 9,000 individuals have participated in A Most Excellent Race, with many attending the Race year after year. Most importantly, the Race has generated over $1,000,000 in funds, providing underwriting and support for the Achievement Centers for Children’s Camp Cheerful, located in Strongsville, Ohio.
About Camp Cheerful In 1947, Camp Cheerful, located in Strongsville, Ohio, opened as Ohio’s first camp for individuals with disabilities. Today, years later, campers with physical, developmental, medical and sensory disabilities continue to enjoy and benefit from typical camp activities in a barrier-free environment. At Camp Cheerful, children and adults with disabilities participate in a variety of recreational activities that encourage confidence and independence, and create opportunities for lifelong friendships while having fun and improving their quality of life.
